This is a special edition of Friday Faves because tomorrow is my birthday! It's rumored that nobody likes you when you're 23, but hopefully 23 will prove to be the best year yet. One of my goals for this year is to do a little updating in my wardrobe and add more versatile, age-appropriate (but still fun) pieces. I love a good Spring cleaning so I plan to take a weekend soon to clean out my mess of a closet and rid it of anything I haven't worn in the past year. This Friday Faves consists of pieces on my birthday wish-list! SHOP MY FRIDAY FAVES:

I've grown to love Shopbop, especially when they have sales! Until tomorrow at midnight, you can receive 25% off your order with code 'SPRING25'. This Spring I'm making it a top priority to add more dresses to my wardrobe so I've gathered some items I've been eyeing from the sale to show you. Happy shopping! Shop my Shopbop picks in the widget below! In my opinion, leopard print might as well be a solid color. It's one of those patterns that to me defies the rules of pattern play. You can mix and match it with just about anything if done the right way. Leopard print clutches are an easy go-to to add a fun and edgy touch to your outfit without trying too hard. I've round up various clutches for this weeks Splurge vs. Steal - let me know what you think! My fave look is probably the Clare V. fold over clutch from Shopbop but for the price, quality and my sanity, I wouldn't have any problems with this Carly Clutch from Catch Bliss Boutique!
It was beautiful this past weekend and then.. today happened. It's cold and rainy and although tomorrow is promised to be sunny with no signs of rain (fingers crossed), I won't be completely happy until it's at least mid-60s again. It's not easy blogging about summer clothes knowing that I can't wear any yet. With summer on my mind, I picked 5 items that I would love to add to my wardrobe. I love this off-the-shoulder top from Revolve. It's flirty, lightweight and the pop of embroidered color around the wrists is bright and summery. In other words, it's perfect. I've also grown to appreciate rompers, although I would never attempt to pull one off. Rompers are an easy go-to when you want to look trendy and cute but don't necessarily have the time or effort to put an outfit together. I'm loving this one, and it's on sale! SHOP MY FRIDAY FAVES:
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved succulents. My grandmother had a large wooden barrel of what she called "hen and biddies," which I learned this week are more commonly known as "hen and chicks." Strange name aside, hen and biddies along with other species of succulents are one of the most interesting plants I've ever seen. They don't have petals or sprout bright colored blooms like a normal plant or flower. Their colors, shapes and texture are so unique and their minimal maintenance and upkeep make them the perfect plant for those with a history of killing their plants by forgetting to water them. They thrive from early spring to early winter, only needing a little spritz of water every few weeks.
After checking out both Lowe's and Home Depot this past weekend, I went with these beauties. Neither store had very many options/species to choose from as I would have liked so I will definitely be on the lookout for more! I didn't want to leave them in the plastic container they came in so I picked up these ceramic pots, which will be fine for now but I hope to find some really cool pots or old vintage tins to make their permanent home soon. Bucket bags are so big right now, and I am obsessed. Their shape is so simple but the individual detailing makes them so unique. They're smaller than your typical handbag but just big enough to carry your day-to-day essentials, which I love. I've gathered some (and by some, I mean 18) of my favorites and split them up by price. Currently dreaming about the Gigi New York bag. Happy weekend, and happy first day of Spring!
I am and always have been a sucker for tassels. They're so fun and add the perfect pop of color to turn any boring outfit from simple to bright and wonderful. The trick with this trending accessory is to shop around for ones that are not only within your price range, but have a nice quality to them as well. You don't want beaded earrings that are poorly made because they are more likely to fall apart.
After doing my research, I went with the tassel earrings from Tuckernuck and luckily snagged them on sale during the Christmas holiday last year and I can't tell you how much I love them. I haven't worn them but maybe once or twice since getting them in December but they will get plenty of wear this summer. As the weather flip flops between warm and chilly, I'm stuck keeping an extra short sleeve t-shirt and spare jacket and umbrella in the car because it is truly that unpredictable at this point. All I can think about is warmer weather and although it may not yet even be spring, all I can think about is sunshine and summer. This Friday Five reflects the state of mind I'm in right now (...bundled up in a cozy Patagonia as I write this). Loving this tank and these sandals right now, though. I can so easily see them paired with a good pair of white jeans. SHOP MY FRIDAY FAVES:
The weather has quickly turned from snow to 50-60 degree weather this week and although it's (very) humid, I can't make one complaint. The change in weather has allowed me to make my way outside for some spray painting. When I found this awesome wooden pineapple basket at Goodwill, I knew I had to do something with it. Since I had plenty of leftover gold spray paint from the magnetic letters DIY I posted a few weeks ago, I realized immediately after getting it home that it had to be spray painted gold. I really enjoy spray painting for some reason. Probably because it's something you really can't mess up. But I'm also loving how popular pineapples are becoming and all the fun pineapple jewelry I've seen recently, particularly stud earrings. It's getting me really excited for summer. To be completely honest, I had no idea (and still really don't know) what I am going to use this basket for just yet. I was thinking maybe in the bathroom to hold rolled up towels/wash cloths. Right now it's sitting on my bedroom dresser holding spare wallets/clutches, but I will find a better use for it.
I have come to terms with the fact that I have very recently turned into a handbag/purse/cross-body girl. I've never liked handbags because I hated lugging it around and I'd never actually had anything to put in it besides my wallet, keys and cell phone but that has all changed. I have been converted. I have fallen in love with this Kate Spade Perri Lane Satchel bag. It's not a new bag but I have just discovered it (thanks Pinterest). Being that it's not new, it's no longer on the Kate Spade website, although I've found it on Amazon and on multiple eBay auctions for much lower than the price it retailed for. It comes in various colors but my favorites are black, grey and white. The black goes with everything but all of them have a spring-y feel to me because of the eyelet-like pattern on the front. For some reason it reminds me of flowers and I love it. I'm keeping my eye on this bag for sure. These coral stud earrings also caught my eye because they are identical to these Kate Spade stud earrings but the ones I've posted are almost 1/5 of the price of the Kate Spade studs! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to downplay the Kate Spade earrings one bit because they're not outrageously expensive by any means, but anywhere I have can make room to save money on an item that's almost identical to the original for a fraction of the price… it just makes sense, especially if you're not caught up on the name brand. Plus, opting for the less-expensive-almost-identical-studs will make me feel (slightly) better about splurging on the Kate Spade Satchel bag! If you've read any of my earlier blog posts about shoes you'll also know that I am not fond of any shoe with a heel either. Not because I don't love the way they look but because I look like a baby deer on ice when I walk in them. This is my own fault because I've never made myself practice walking in heels but I'm gradually introducing myself to them. These booties are perfect. Not too high and chunky enough for me to be comfortable. I'm on the lookout for shoes like this for the Spring/Summer. SHOP MY FRIDAY FAVES:
