I've recently started working at my first "big girl job" where I have my own desk and monitor, and with this big step I also moved into a new apartment closer to work. Soon after starting this job I noticed that my desk was kind of (completely) bare and naturally I wanted to fix this immediately. After searching different websites and looking at different desk accessories I came across a few simple and small desk calendars. The only negative was that I definitely couldn't pay what they cost, which ranged anywhere from $40 to $60 (ugh). The upside though - since the calendars were so simple, they probably weren't that hard to make my own version of. So that's what I did. Even better? - the version I made only needed 5 materials, 2 or 3 of which you probably already have sitting around. Here are some of the desk calendars that inspired my DIY:
After cutting your card stock to the size you want (I cut mine to 6 x 5.5), use your ruler to outline the 4 sides of the card stock in gold paint pen. I never measured my outline for an accurate thickness just because it would have taken much more time to do this for 12 cards - I just measured by eye at what I thought looked good. | After outlining each piece of card stock in gold paint pen, begin making your actual calendar by adding the month to the top of the card, days of the week and numbers to each row. I used a ruler to stay even with each row. Add in little graphics for holidays or birthdays to replace the actual number to make it more unique to you. |
